painting 2006. Henrik Kr?ner is 1st year student at the MFA Painting Department.

De Buning Brongers Prijzen worden om het jaar uitgereikt door de Buning Brongers Stichting. De prijzen beogen in de eerste plaats een stimulans te zijn voor jonge kunstenaars die aan het begin van een veelbelovende carri?re staan. Alle kunstenaars die meedingen naar de prijzen, hebben sinds kort een diploma op zak en worden voorgedragen door verschillende kunstacademies, werkplaatsen en tweede fase opleidingen uit het hele land.
Aan de 10 prijswinnaars, uitgekozen uit een totaal van 35 kandidaten, zal door de Buning Brongers Stichting een geldbedrag van ? 4.500.00 worden uitgekeerd, waarmee deze prijs de grootste particuliere kunstprijs van Nederland is.
Het werk van de winnaars is van zaterdag 16 december t/m zondag 24 december te zien bij Arti et Amicitiae te Amsterdam.

Saskia Koops
Saskia Koops finished her practical thesis in June last with a installation
and photography. Her installation was part of a sequence of space mapping by
rubbing the walls of these rooms. She started to collect these rubbings as
books in a book case. In New York every night before sleeping she made a
photo from the dark of her room of the ceiling. These pictures she combined
to an rhythmic abstract field.

Alex Winters
Alex Winters studeerde af met een film en een installatie. Zijn werk gaat over illusie. De werking van een lijn, de tekening, vervreemding van perpectief. De onlogische werkelijkheid. Het blijkt een opeenstapeling van lagen.
Alex Winters graduated with a movie and a installation. His work is about illusion. The working of a line, the drawing, alienation of perspective. The illogical reality. It appears as a piling up of layers.
Het vragen begint.
In mijn thesis beschrijf ik verschillende kamers.
Ze worden beschreven vanuit verschillende oogpunten.
Soms ben ik het zelf die de kamers beschrijft, ik loop door de ruimte en zie wat ik gemaakt heb.In het volgende moment loop ik door een visuele ruimte en zie wat er gemaakt is, het is niet van mij, ik maak immers niets. Vervolgens lees ik hoe jij door de ruimte liep en de dingen beschreef.
Tijd ruimte en taal lopen door elkaar.
Ik ben een ander, mezelf, als maker, als beschouwer.

The artwork of Ruslan Trusewych in the MFA Paintingbuilding
On december 11th will be the opening reception of Ruslan Trusewych on
occasion of the installation of the work he have completed this semester
in the MFA Painting Department. The opening will be on december 11th

" Vrijkaart van het Jonge Harten Festival"
Zuzana Hudekova (Slowakije), student of Scenography, won the prize " Vrijkaart van het Jonge Harten Festival" with a performance about the relation that artists has with their mother and the country they come from, even when they are living somewhere else. The performance was based on the (hidden) relation of Andy Warhol with his mother and Peer Gynt of Henrik Ibsen. With the prize (1500 euro) Zuzana Hudekova is able to realize her concept, which shall be performed at the upcoming Jonge Harten Festival from 25th of november untill the 2th of december 2006.

'Gegrond'
On Thursday November 2 the deputy for culture of the province Friesland will present the artwork ?Gegrond? (welgrounded) by Erwin Adema. Erwin Adema graduated MFA Painting in 2002. ?Gegrond? is the third artwork in the series ?Woordenstroom? (flow of words) along the waterway from Lemmer to Delfzijl in the North of the Netherlands. The work is based on a poem by the Dutch poet Benne van de Velde. The presentation will be at 1.30 pm on Suderein 36 in Suwal.

Royal Award for Painting 2006
Congratulations to Anneke Wilbrink!
On Friday Oktober 6th Her Majesty Queen Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands, distributed
the Royal Award for Painting of this year to 4 young artists who live and work in the
Netherlands. One of the winners of the Royal Award 2006 is Anneke Wilbrink. She graduated
MFA Painting in 2002. This is successive the third year that a graduated of the Frank Mohr
Institute is one of the laureates. Last year the award went to Marielle Buitendijk (graduated
in 2005) and in 2004 to Barbara Wijnveld (graduated in 1998).
On the photo Anneke shows the queen her two paintings which are presented in the Royal Award Exhibition in the Gemeente Museum in the Hague together with work of 26 selected candidates.
300 young painters applied for the award 2006.

DIA-EXIT
DIA-EXIT of Steven Jouwersma is from August 19 till September 25 2006 in the Tschumi pavilion on the Hereplein in Groningen. The opening of DIA-EXIT happened on August 19 by Jacques Wallage, mayor of the City of Groningen.

DIA-EXIT werd op zaterdag 19 augustus om 16:00 uur geopend door Jacques Wallage, burgemeester van Groningen
In DIA-EXIT 40.000 slides will be destroyed. These slides are all collected by Steven Jouwersma in exchange for self made apple pies. With one push on the button the image will be past. After appearance of the next, the preceding slide falls down in the shredder. The slides can be seen for the last time before passing into grit.
In DIA-EXIT worden 40.000 dia's vernietigd die Steven Jouwersma in ruil voor zelfgebakken appeltaarten verzamelde. Met ??n druk op de rode knop is het beeld verleden tijd. Nadat een volgende dia zichtbaar wordt, valt de vorige in een versnipperaar. De dia?s zijn nog 1 keer te zien voordat ze veranderen in gruis.

EVEN STIL, Graduation performance of Marieke K?ttschreuter on August 23th, 24th, 26th
During the Groningen theatre Festival Noorderzon (17 - 27 August) Marieke K?ttschreuter will perform Even Stil (Just Still) on different locations in the city. These performances take place on 23th, 24th and 26th of August in the inner town of Groningen. Even Stil is part of her graduation at MFA Scenography. Tijdens het theaterfestival Noorderzon(17 - 27 augustus) treedt Marieke K?ttschreuter op met haar performance Even Stil. Deze performance vindt plaats op 23, 24 en 26 augustus aanstaande in de binnenstad van Groningen. Even Stil vormt een onderdeel van haar eindexamen aan MFA Theatervormgeving. Eerder dit jaar maakte zij 'Even Still, een stil beeld van kantoormensen binnen de rennende hectiek van alledag'. Deze Still-Performance. Blaak.Rotterdam.01-05-2006.Dag van de Arbeid.17:00-17:09', voerde ze uit met mensen die daadwerkelijk bij de bedrijven en instellingen in het gebied rondom de Rotterdamse Blaak werkzaam zijn en bereid waren mee te werken aan deze niet-alledaagse uitvergroting. In een ruimtelijke choreografie zette zij de bewegingen van deze mensen die zich naar huis spoedden in een periode van 9 minuten letterlijk stil.
* Binnen het beeld van de stilstaande kantoormensen ontstaat voor de passant een vergrootglas-effect. De kantoormensen staan still in een gaande beweging, op weg naar de trein, rennend naar de metro en binnen deze still, oftewel levende sculptuur is een kwetsbaarheid zichtbaar doordat de kantoormensen precies op dat moment van stillstand in beweging waren. Bijvoorbeeld het moment dat zij net hun telefoon wilden opbergen, hun sjaal wilden goed doen of een hand door hun haar haalden.
Een dagelijks moment van de individuele kantoormensen waarnaar de passant kan kijken, veel langer dan ooit in de werkelijkheid te zien zal zijn.
"...Even still is een performance waarin binnen de snelheid en drukte van alledag een tegenritme in het dagelijkse leven wordt neergezet. Even still is een performance die uitgevoerd zal worden door kantoormensen werkzaam aan en rondom de Blaak.

Concept, text and image: Marloes van der Hoek (MFA Scenography)
Snelcursus Onschuld gaat over de manier waarop verhalen en gebeurtenissen worden geconstrueerd tijdens verhoren. Het belangrijkste uitgangspunt vormen de verhoorstechnieken. Verhoorhandleidingen en transcripten van verhoren die geleid hebben tot valse bekentenissen, zijn gebruikt als basis voor de tekst voor deze voorstelling over het verhoor als ritueel in een postdemocratische samenleving. Over wat je je herinnert en wat er is gebeurd.
Snelcursus Onschuld ('Short Guide to Innocence') is about the way stories and events are constructed during interrogations. The most important points of departure are the methods of interrogation. Manuals and transcripts of interrogations which caused false confessions, are used for the text of the performance about the interrogation as ritual in a post democratic society. FMI Signs of Graduation 2006!
During June, July and August 2006 FMI students will present their graduation work. They will do that on different places in the city of Groningen: in the University Theater of the RUG, the CAVE, The Grand Theatre, Sign, The MFA Painting building, Noorderzon and the Martini Tower. You will be kept informed on this page.
Presentation in Sign
From June 24 till July 09 2006 the Frank Mohr Institute presents 4 graduating students in Sign. These students are: Marieke K?ttschreuter (MFA Scenography), Siebe de Boer (MFA Interactive Media & Environments), Xinjian Lu (MFA interactive Media & Environments) and Karl Klomp (also from MFA Interactive Media & Environments). Marieke K?ttschreuter shows a film of her poetic still-performance on May 1st 2006 on the Blaak in Rotterdam. Siebe de Boer presents a very intriguing, complex and laborious computeranimation. Xinjian Lu shows his sketches and 3 D models of the Martini tower for his illusionistic and exchanted projection on and about the Martini Tower (This work will be executed on August 28th, if the essential financial support will be complete). And finally Karl Klomp who will show his work on www.ebay.com and in the Singelroom of the Frank mohr Institute on june 30th.
The opening of the show in Sign is on Friday 23rd at 19.30 hrs. You are welcome!

Yaron Abulafia presents his lightning designs of Exile within and Macbeth
Yaron Abulafia is a first year student in the Scenography department of the Frank Mohr Institute, a lighting designer from Israel, financially supported by the America- Israel cultural foundation. On last March, Yaron was invited to cooperate as a lighting designer in 2 productions. The first was Exile within, a dance performance of Galili dance\ NND from the choreographer Itzik Galili. The second was Macbeth from W. Shakespeare, in Tamasi Aron Theatre in Romania, which was directed by Prof. David Zinder.
Exile within is an intense, extremely physical but still lyrical dance piece which demanded versatile and wide repertoire of lighting looks and atmospheres changes. The lights had a lot in dictating the physical both the mental space and state of mind. The relationship between the dancers and lights was one of the elements regarding to the concept of the piece and the trying of human being to declare his position related to the world. In Macbeth which was performed in an abstract box space, the lights were the medium which created the different locations, the atmospheres and the illusions of changes in the measures of space. By the concept of the production, the lights were in a way one of the means of the evilness, to lead and to shape the reality, to manipulate first of all Macbeth but not only and to create visual language using colors motifs which were amplified with similar principals in the costumes and objects on stage.

The process and the hanging' first shown at FMI on Thursday 15 June at 20:00 hrs in the Singelzaal, Radesingel 6, Groningen.
Documentary on monumental painting of Schuppers
'The process and the hanging' a documentary filmed by Klaas Koetje will be shown for the first time in public at the Frank Mohr Institute (FMI) in Groningen and deals with a showpiece painted by Groningen based painter Martijn Schuppers. The documentary will be shown on June 15th from 20.00 hrs. in the Singelzaal of FMI. The film pictures the way Schuppers works as well as how the work was installed in the building of the Council for Jurisdiction in The Hague.
Queen Beatrix opened the building on May 16th. Schuppers was asked to make paintings for the building together with five other artists (Julia Warr, Jos van Merendonk, Mary Waters, Twan Janssen and Klaas Kloosterboer). Special about the commission by the Rijksgebouwendienst was that all artists were invited because of their specific way of painting.
Schuppers reveals himself in his work as a fundamental painter. His wilful way of working in which he attacks the skin of the paint, attracted attention both in the Netherlands and abroad. The painting he made for the Counsel of Jurisdiction was the biggest so far.
In the documentary the realisation of a canvas of 9 by 4 meters is to be seen. Writer/video artist Klaas Koetje from Groningen whom with others assisted in the painting took the initiative to make a documentary on this unique commission. This resulted in a 49 minutes film which will be presented for the first time at the FMI. The documentary is split in two parts. The first part 'The process' gives a captivating image of the way Martijn Schuppers works. The second part 'The hanging' shows the way professionals are installing the work. All in all the documantry hands a both intriguing and instructive story of a painting project that took place in 2005.
Martijn Schuppers is a former student and teacher at the Minerva Academy and graduated at the Frank Mohr Institute in 2000. Klaas Koetje is autodidact. Both Schuppers and Koetje will be present at the first run of 'The process and the hanging'.
This public premiere has been made possible with kind cooperation of FMI and Sign. 'The process and the hanging' will be shown with English subtitles. Entrance is free.

On Saturday June 6 at 4 pm Kunstvlaai 6 in Amsterdam opened her doors under great public attention. Part of this bi-annual exhibition of young fine art is =MORE, a beautiful show and book of the Frank Mohr Institute. In this show and book the FMI exhibit 12 alumni who graduated since May 2005 Jan Bokma, Jeroen Brouwer, Mari?lle Buitendijk, Chrysante Dimbitsara, Benjamin Gaulon, Jeroen Glas, Annegret Kellner, Lucienne Pereira, Berndnaut Smilde, Heiner Behrends, Renske Vera de Kam and Menno Vinke.
The book contains colorful pictures of the artists? works, interviews with the artists by young art historians, students of the Groningen University, essays of Marianne van Kerkhoven, Arie Altena and Sybrandt van Keulen about the fields of study at the Frank Mohr Institute (theatre, interactive media and painting/fine arts), and an illustrated report on the events and projects of the Frank Mohr Institute in the years 2004 and 2005. Petri Leijdekkers, the director of the institute, presented the first copy of the book to Jos Houweling, the director of the Sandberg Institute and Kunstvlaai, during a happening wherein Hyun Bay Lee, first year student of the FMI, drew a huge portrait of him.

FMI in symposium in Tsinghua University in Beijing
From April 11 till 17 Petri Leijdekkers director of the Frank Mohr Institute and Xinjina Lu (student MFA IME) were invited to be in a symposium on art and media in the Department of Art and Media of the Tsinghua University in Beijing. Other invited participants of the symposium were Kurt Vanhoutte assistant professor on theatre and media at the University of Antwerp and Groningen, Philip Bekaert, professor in computer technology at the university of Hasselt (Belgium) and Eric Joris, artistic director of CREW, a theatre company in Antwerp that works with new special constructed media. The symposium opened on Tuesday May 11 in the attendance of the ambassadors of Belgium and Holland. The program of the symposium consisted of lectures on art and media, workshops, workshops, discussions. The symposium had a very good attendance of students and faculty members.

Josien Niebuur , graduated MFA IME in 2004, is selected out of 193 young artists who received in 2004 or 2005 a start-stipendium from the Fonds voor de Beeldende Kunst, Vormgeving en Bouwkunst (Fonds BKVB), to participate in an exhibition of young promising artists in the GEM in The Hague.

Recent work of conceptual artist Ton Mars (Dalfsen, 1950). Since years he is working at an oeuvre based on the notion ONE as numeral and as the idea of unity. In his work the word ONE out of the cultures and languages in the different continents of the world is used as graphic sign. The series are grouped on continent. Every work consists of two or more parts with a pictoral and graphic element: on colour and on sign. Colour and sign are chosen on base of the continent where the notion ONE is coming from. Thus every series has his own sphere.
The works are not only a series of paintings but also a series as wall objects. Stretched on 10 cm thick pieces of wood, the work seems floating before the wall. Light and shadow play an important role in his work causing a special spatial effect.

Ton Mars showed his work till now, more in Germany than The Netherlands. His last exhibition in the Groningen Museum was in 1995. He is principal tutor of the postgraduate program MFA Painting at the Frank Mohr Institute.
Recent werk van de Groningse conceptueel kunstenaar Ton Mars (Dalfsen, 1950). Al geruime tijd werkt hij aan oeuvre dat gebaseerd is op het begrip ?een?, waarbij ?een? als telwoord en als begrip van eenheid wordt opgevat. Het woord ?een? uit culturen en talen in de verschillende werelddelen wordt als grafisch teken gebruikt in het werk. Dit werk is complex. Niet alleen leidt het tot een bijna oneindige reeks werken gegroepeerd per werelddeel; ook elk werk op zich bestaat uit verschillende componenten. Elk werk bestaat uit twee of meer delen met een schilderkunstige en een grafische element: een kleurstelling en een teken. De kleurstelling en de tekens zijn afhankelijk van het gebied waar het begrip ?een? afkomstig is. De kleuren en tekens uit Noordelijke werelddelen zijn anders, dan die uit Zuidelijke of tropische gebieden. Elk gebied heeft zo te zeggen een geheel eigen sfeer.
Behalve dat het werk een teken en een schilderij is, is het daarbij ook een wandobject. De doeken zijn op een houten constructie gespannen waardoor het werk zo?n 10 centimeter van de wand komt en als het ware voor de wand zweeft. Licht en schaduw spelen daardoor een rol bij het werk, wat het een extra ruimtelijk effect geeft.
De schilderijen worden individueel of als ruimtevullende installaties, gegroepeerd naar werelddeel, ge?xposeerd.
Naar aanleiding van en over de reeks werken werden twee boeken uitgebracht onder de titel ?AbUno/Ad Unum? met tekstbijdragen van Katelin Herzog.
Ton Mars exposeerde voor het laatst in Groningen in het Groninger Museum in 1995. Het werk van Ton Mars is de laatste 10 - 15 jaar meer in Duitsland te zien dan in Nederland. In Duitsland wordt zijn werk gebracht door o.m. Galerie J. Friedrich in Dortmund en Galerie Cora H?lzl te D?sseldorf. Het filosofische en conceptuele karakter van de schilderijen wordt aldaar meer op waarde geschat dan in Nederland. Het contemplatieve karakter van het werk maakte tevens dat ook in Japan veel belangstelling voor zijn werk bestaat.
Ton Mars is reeds zo?n 25 jaar docent aan de Academie Minerva in Groningen en sinds 1996 kerndocent aan de voortgezette opleiding MFA Schilderkunst van het Frank Mohr Instituut. In de jaren tachtig van de vorige eeuw was hij, samen met Jouke Kleerebezem en Hans Scholten, medeorganisator van projecten bij de stichting ?De Zaak?, gevestigd in een pand aan de Turftorenstraat in Groningen. ?De Zaak? ontwikkelde zich in haar ongeveer 10 jarig bestaan tot een kunstenaarsinitiatief met landelijke en internationale uitstraling. Het was een instituut met spraakmakende exposities en discourses over (toen) hedendaagse beeldende kunst. In de jaren van haar bestaan vonden diverse exposities plaats met werk van kunstenaars die nadien een landelijke bekendheid kregen, waaronder de oprichters en organisatoren zelf.

Weltrusten, Sleep well, performance of NWU, MFA Scenography in the OT theatre in Rotterdam
On 3, 4 and 5 February 2006 NWU (Not Wearing Uniforms), an occasional compagny of MFA Scenography performed Weltrusten, Sleep well in the beautiful new theatre house of the Onafhankelijk Toneel (OT) in Rotterdam. Weltrusten is about time and based on the fairy-tale of Doornroosje. She slept 50 years and is such frightened after waking up. The project was conducted by Bea de Visser, term-teacher of the programme. The OT theatre sheltered the project with great hospitality.
MFA Scenography is the youngest programme at the Frank Mohr Institute. This post-graduate programme, co-ordinated by core teacher Mirjam Grote Gansey, has the objective of intensifying theatre design by producing scenographers who are capable of bringing imagination to drama on the basis of a substantial knowledge of the various manifestations of theatre in both its autonomous and its literary guises. The students come from various (Bachelor?s degree) backgrounds, such as the theatre school, dance academy, theatre technology, theatre design, the visual arts, graphic design, and architecture. They have followed their longing to apply their knowledge and skills in a world where the illusory side of life is predominant, where thinking is based on imagination. They want to work from an angle of approach in which the visual arts and theatre enter the arena of visual translation. Their interests vary from the autonomous performance and visual impact to a completely co-ordinated theatre play.

Studenten Theatervormgeving Frank Mohr Instituut spelen theaterperformance ?Weltrusten? in Rotterdam
Doornroosje schrikt zich rot na vijftig jaar slaap
Groningen, 25 januari 2006 - Tijd en ruimte passen niet meer op elkaar wanneer Doornroosje na vijftig jaar slaap haar ogen opent. Zij probeert de tijd in te halen en in volgorde te zetten om toekomst te hebben. Maar wanneer anderen Doornroosje de tijd geven loopt zij vast; de tijd krijgen is wachten. Langzaam begint ze dit te beseffen en het sprookje slaat om in een nachtmerrie. ?Weltrusten? wordt gespeeld in het OT-Theater Rotterdam op 3, 4 en 5 februari 2006 om 19.00 uur. De entree is ? 5,--.
Weltrusten
Weltrusten is een korte ruwe theaterperformance van de studenten MFA Theatervormgeving van het Frank Mohr Instituut met als thema het doorbreken van routine of gewoonte op essenti?le momenten. Het is een voorstelling over het gevoel van ongeduld, machteloosheid en vertwijfeling als gevolg van een eeuwenoud machtspelletje: ?iemand laten wachten.?
NWU
De studenten voeren de theaterperformance op onder de naam NWU ? not wearing uniform. NWU draagt geen gelijke kleding en bestaat uit theatervormgevers, beeldend kunstenaars, theatermakers, acteurs en belichters met zeer uiteenlopende doelen. Zij onderzoeken tijd en ruimte en daarmee de toekomst. Doornroosje is de eerste en laatste voorstelling van een groep die tijdelijk wakker is.
MFA Theatervormgeving
De voortgezette opleiding van het Frank Mohr Instituut ?onderdeel van de Hanzehogeschool Groningen- is opgezet om een beperkt aantal studenten die al een ruime ervaring hebben, verder te begeleiden bij theoretische verdieping en praktische ontwikkeling in het theatraal vormgeven van ruimte. Docenten zijn onder andere Mirjam Grote Gansey, Linda Nijenhof, Mechtild Prins, Jos Thie en Bea de Visser. Onder leiding van de laatstgenoemde docente, de Rotterdamse filmmaker en beeldend kunstenaar Bea de Visser, maakten de studenten de productie. Deze wordt tijdens het Rotterdams Filmfestival opgevoerd in het OT-Theater (Onafhankelijk Toneel).

Open Day
On Saturday 11 March was the open day of the Frank Mohr Institute. Interested students from different art schools in the Netherlands visited the institute to become informed about the MFA programs of the FMI. Also Galleries used the open day opportunity to be informed on the work of the coming artists. In the painting building young Dutch curator Roos Gortzak arranged with the students during the week a series of small exhibitions of the work of the students. These exhibitions were to be seen during the open day. Around 70 people visited the open day.

OnUnderTheTable is a performance about a fictitious world. We follow a girl on her exploring expedition through Non-Existing-Country, a country designed by herself to replace the real world she doesn?t like. In her world she meets several strange and odd beings. So she falls among different adventures who confront her with the dilemmas as well as the beauty of dreams. Will she open the door to the next world? There is no ground-plan and nobody can tell her which choices she has to make in this world....
With OnUnderTheTable Kim Geerts graduates MFA Scenography at the Frank Mohr Institute. During her study she went into the meaning and function of dolls in a theatre performance.
In OnUnderTheTable she shows how her puppets come to life and develop their characters in teamwork with actors. Is it a slow muttering being or a springing, hyperactive creature? How the doll react on others and what?s the relation between actor and doll?

Zuzana Hudekova (Slowakije), student of Scenography, won the prize " Vrijkaart van het Jonge Harten Festival" with a performance about the relation that artists has with their mother and the country they come from, even when they are living somewhere else. The performance was based on the (hidden) relation of Andy Warhol with his mother and Peer Gynt of Henrik Ibsen. With the prize (1500 euro) Zuzana Hudekova is able to realize her concept, which shall be performed at the upcoming Jonge Harten Festival from 25th of november untill the 2th of december 2006.

EVEN STIL, Graduation performance of Marieke K?ttschreuter on August 23th, 24th, 26th
During the Groningen theatre Festival Noorderzon (17 - 27 August) Marieke K?ttschreuter will perform Even Stil (Just Still) on different locations in the city. These performances take place on 23th, 24th and 26th of August in the inner town of Groningen. Even Stil is part of her graduation at MFA Scenography. Tijdens het theaterfestival Noorderzon(17 - 27 augustus) treedt Marieke K?ttschreuter op met haar performance Even Stil. Deze performance vindt plaats op 23, 24 en 26 augustus aanstaande in de binnenstad van Groningen. Even Stil vormt een onderdeel van haar eindexamen aan MFA Theatervormgeving. Eerder dit jaar maakte zij 'Even Still, een stil beeld van kantoormensen binnen de rennende hectiek van alledag'. Deze Still-Performance. Blaak.Rotterdam.01-05-2006.Dag van de Arbeid.17:00-17:09', voerde ze uit met mensen die daadwerkelijk bij de bedrijven en instellingen in het gebied rondom de Rotterdamse Blaak werkzaam zijn en bereid waren mee te werken aan deze niet-alledaagse uitvergroting. In een ruimtelijke choreografie zette zij de bewegingen van deze mensen die zich naar huis spoedden in een periode van 9 minuten letterlijk stil.
* Binnen het beeld van de stilstaande kantoormensen ontstaat voor de passant een vergrootglas-effect. De kantoormensen staan still in een gaande beweging, op weg naar de trein, rennend naar de metro en binnen deze still, oftewel levende sculptuur is een kwetsbaarheid zichtbaar doordat de kantoormensen precies op dat moment van stillstand in beweging waren. Bijvoorbeeld het moment dat zij net hun telefoon wilden opbergen, hun sjaal wilden goed doen of een hand door hun haar haalden.
Een dagelijks moment van de individuele kantoormensen waarnaar de passant kan kijken, veel langer dan ooit in de werkelijkheid te zien zal zijn.
"...Even still is een performance waarin binnen de snelheid en drukte van alledag een tegenritme in het dagelijkse leven wordt neergezet. Even still is een performance die uitgevoerd zal worden door kantoormensen werkzaam aan en rondom de Blaak.

Graduation Marloes van der Hoek
Marloes van der Hoek slaagde voor haar MFA Examen met de theaterproductie 'Snelcursus Onschuld' waarvoor ze idee, tekst en vormgeving leverde en een essay onder de titel 'Actueel Theater' met interviews en beschouwingen over John Malpede, Sjoerd Wagenaar, Jos Thie en Rosa Knaub. In deze thesis probeert Marloes een antwoord te krijgen op haar vraag naar de betekenis van theater waarin actuele onderwerpen aan de orde zijn. Ze eindigt met een beschrijving over en verantwoording van haar eigen productie 'Snelcursus Onschuld'. Gealarmeerd door verhalen over misstanden in Amerikaanse gevangenissen en problemen bij de Nederlandse politie en justitie onderzocht Marloes verslagen van politieverhoren en handleidingen om het snelste en grootste rendement uit een politieverhoor te halen. 'Snelcursus Onschuld' handelde dan ook over de manier waarop verhalen en gebeurtenissen worden geconstrueerd tijdens verhoren. Het belangrijkste uitgangspunt vormden de verhoorstechnieken. Verhoorhandleidingen en transcripten van verhoren die geleid hebben tot valse bekentenissen, werden door haar gebruikt als basis voor de tekst voor deze voorstelling over het verhoor als ritueel in een postdemocratische samenleving. Over wat je je herinnert en wat er is gebeurd. In haar theaterbeeld liet Marloes zich inspireren door choreographische diagrammen uit boeken over verhoortechnieken om de beste resultaten te behalen

Marloes van der Hoek graduated MFA Scenography with her theatre production
'Snelcursus Onschuld' (Short Guide to Innocence). 'Short Guide to Innocence' was about the way stories and events are constructed during interrogations. The most important points of departure were the methods of interrogation. Manuals and transcripts of interrogations which caused false confessions, are used for the text of the performance about the interrogation as ritual in a post democratic society. About what you remember and what is happened.
The scenography was based on choreographical diagrams used for the interactive positions during interrogations to gain the most interesting result.

Graduation of Wikke van Houwelingen
Wikke van Houwelingen slaagde voor zijn MFA Examen met twee producties en een essay over het d?cor onder de titel 'Zoeken naar levend d?cor, een pleidooi voor beeldend theater'. Van 9 tot 12 mei speelde in het Universiteitstheater in zijn decor de productie Race, Milieu, Moment en op 9 juni in het 3-D theater van het Centre voor High Performance Computing & Visualization CAVE, een door hem ontworpen virtuele reis door gangen en kamers om tenslotte terecht te komen in de grot van Plato.
Wikke van Houweling graduated with two productions and an essay. On May 9th with his scene-graphics for the production Race, Milieu, Moment in the university theatre and on June 9th with CAVE, a production about dead and life, idea and reality in the 3-D theatre of the Centre for High Performance Computing and Visualisation in the Zernikeborg of the Groningen University.

Snelcursus Onschuld gaat over de manier waarop verhalen en gebeurtenissen worden geconstrueerd tijdens verhoren. Het belangrijkste uitgangspunt vormen de verhoorstechnieken. Verhoorhandleidingen en transcripten van verhoren die geleid hebben tot valse bekentenissen, zijn gebruikt als basis voor de tekst voor deze voorstelling over het verhoor als ritueel in een postdemocratische samenleving. Over wat je je herinnert en wat er is gebeurd.
