MFA Painting

General Information

At the present time, when artists can make use of all media, genres and types of art, a distinct artistic mentality and an individual artistic system (a recognisable, associative and poetic cohesion of all the work) are of prime importance. These should be strong enough to guarantee a lengthy career as an artist. The MFA Painting is therefore mainly aimed at developing such an individually-based artistic system, a clear artistic mentality and a strong professional discipline. To this end the visual work of young artists, who have already graduated from art school, is carefully and critically supervised, while their work itself is backed up by reflection and (art-) theoretical depth. One requirement is the making of qualitatively good visual work, but this can only come about through good thinking and a clear picture of one's own artistic calling. Practice and theory within the programme thus go together in order to achieve these aims.
